Jesen Ackles appeared on his former Smallville co-star, Micheal Rosebaum’s podcast, Inside of You.  Ackles announced that he is working with Warner Brothers on a secret upcoming D.C. project in which we would learn the he would voice Batman in the animated movie, Batman: The Long Halloween. This is not the first time Jesen has partnered with D.C. comics since his tenure on the

Superman prequel.  In fact, he is not the only Supernatural star who has a connection with a D.C. comics property.

“ I’m Batman( And Robin)”

For 15 seasons, Jensen Ackles played Dean Winchester on Supernatural.  In the fan favorite episode “ Bad Day at Black Rock”, Dean takes down a couple of henchmen armed with an ink pen; TV remote; and an enchanted rabbit’s foot. He jokingly says: “ I’m Batman” to an unlucky and captured Sam.

Two years later, Jensen would voice the former sidekick turned anti-villain Jason Todd(Red Hood) in 2010’s Batman: Under the Red Hood.  The Red Hood is the main agonist in the animated movie.  The anti-villain starts a revenge-fueled crime war in Gotham City  putting him in direct conflict with Batman.

Jensen Ackle would come full circle over a decade later.  He would voice the Dark Knight in Batman: The Long Halloween part 1 & 2 which both released in 2021.  Dean Winchester may have never become the Cape Crusader but Jensen Ackles did nearly 13 years later from the airing of Bad Day at Black Rock.

Save Martha…….I mean Bella

Revisiting the popular episode Bad Day at Black Rock, a character makes her debut.  Lauren Cohan makes her first appearance as Bella Talbot in that episode.  Bella falls between an antagonist and reluctant ally to the boys. Cohan would only make 6 appearances in the series and all in the 3rd season.

Cohan would be cast as Martha Wayne, the mother of Bruce Wayne(Batman) in 2016’s Batman VS. Superman: Dawn of Justice.  She did not get much screen time in the film. It was her character’s name,Martha, that infamously defused the conflict of the 2 titled heroes.

Just like Cohan’s role in Supernatural, her time was short and extremely controversial.  Lauren left a polarizing legacy in both franchises.

It Runs In The Family

Lauren Cohan was not the only parent of Bruce Wayne with a Supernatural connection. Jeffery Dean Morgan was cast to play the husband of Marhta and father of Bruce Thomas Wayne in the movie as well.  Morgan is better known for playing the strict and authoritarian father John Wincherster. It was John who is  credited for training his two boys to become hunters and fight evil.  It was the death of his parents and these two  Supernatural alum that inspired Ben Affleck’s Batman to combat evil as well.

As Red(Black) as a Ruby

Katie Cassidy was casted the mischievous demonic ally Ruby. She debuted on the premiere of the third season. Cassidy’s version of Ruby would only appear in just 6 episodes in the long running series.  Her  time on the show was short; however ,her influence on Sam's character arc is epic!

In 2012, Katie Cassidy would appear in another successful CW show. Cassidy was casted as Laurel Lance in  Arrow.  Laruen was one of the  many love interests of Oliver Queen played by Stephen Amell.  After the death of her sister, Laurel would become the vigilante known as Black Canary and fight crime with Green Arrow.

Rather as Ruby the demon or Black Canary, Cassidy’s characters are the colors of bravery and ally to our heroes.

Lady of the Night & Lady in Tights

Elysia Rotaru is a very talented character actress. She made a couple of  appearances on Supernatural as 2 different  prostitutes on two unrealting eposides.  Rotaru first appeared as Victoria Dodd in the episode “Of Grave Importance”. Victoria was the kind hearted dead prostitute ghost  trapped in the ghost mansion. She facilitated the communication between the Boys on the behalf of  the ghosts of Bobby Singer and Annie Hawkins.

She would portray another hooker 3 seasons later in the episode named “Girls, Girls, Girls”as  Shaylenne Johnson.  It is Shaylene that leads the boys to stop a soul trading prostitution ring run by rebellious demons.

Heroism would tap Rotarn again in 2021.  She lent her talent as the voice of Black Canary in

Justice League: World World II. Fighting evil in fishnets are roles that she was born to play.

I Put A Spell On You

Tom Welling’s Clark Kent interacted with dozens of D.C. superheroes  in the long-running series,Smallville. One of the superheroes was the spell casting Zatanna played by Serinda Swan. Zatanna would debut in the episode, Hex. She would appear two more during the series run.

The Supernatural episode, "You Can't Hanlde The Truth" features Serinda Swan as the monster of the week. She protrays an evil truth goddess named Veritas. This creature would bewitch her victims forcing them to tell the most vile and uncomfortable truth to others resulting in death.

Serinda Swan delivered two spellbinding performances for the CW.
